Press Conference on fact finding report of Rape case

An 11 year old  madhesi Dalit girl named Runchi Mahara who was killed after forceful rape by some Madheshi non-dalit youths on Bhadra 15 2066. The news of brutal incident was published by few national daily newspapers immediate after the incident. A fact finding team led by Mr. Arjun Bagale from Dalit NGO Federation (DNF) who went to the incident place and carried out in-depth investigation on the incident to find out the truth. The other members included in the team are Ms. Punyawati Ramtel, FEDO, Ms.Bidhata Poudel, LANCAU, Mr. Suman B.K, DWO and Mr. Dhan Bahadur Mijar, NNDSWO.

The team has found out that the incident was true and victim was the 11 year old lady who forcefully raped by the local youths. The incident was not taken seriously by the police authority before but after the pressure of local, including local Dalit leaders the authority filed the FIR and took one suspected culprit into the custody based on proofs. It is mentioned that other political parties are giving political pressures to the authority to release the culprit.

 

The mission's fact finding report was publicly disseminated today in fornt of journalist after press conference at the reporters club. Team leader Mr. Arjun Bagale has publicized the report and Dr. Renu Rajbhandari, Women Rights Activist and Mr. Subhodh Pyakurel have drawn the attention of the government to act upon the incident and take action to the stern culprits immediately. Though the existing government is declaring to celebrate 2009-2010 as women violence free year for cheap popularity. Such brutal incident are taking place day by day, particularly among Dalit community but no any serious steps and strong action are taken by the government.
